Assateague (and neighboring Chincoteague) has been a family vacation destination for a few different years, and each time it's been a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Since the oceanfront is in a National Seashore, it's about as natural and building-l...
A perfect weekend. My son and I camped for 2 nights and this time of the year it was almost empty. Jack, our site host was helpful stopping by early Saturday morning to ensure that all was well. Falling asleep to the sound of the waves crashing just yards from you is just incredible. We bought some firewood from the office, but it was very wet. Luckily, we found a guy selling wood out of his driveway just a few miles from the island and it made all the difference. Watch out for the horses! Surprisingly quiet in this area with a view of the bay and the lights from Ocean City. Watching the ponies walk right by our tent late into the night was a bit unnerving but so fun! As an added bonus, stargazing conditions at night wer...
