Our go-to vacation destination. Fun for the entire family!Flag review
We have vacationed at the Atlantis numerous times, both before having children and after. As the Atlantis has expanded over the years, it has gotten increasingly more attractive as a family destination, and has become a family favorite. Kids from toddlers to teens have a great time at this resort! The property is beautiful, with expansive pools and water slides worked into the landscape in a natural, unobtrusive way. Under and above ground aquariums abound at the Atlantis, allowing incredible views of exotic sea life. On our most recent trip, our family enjoyed a guided, on-site snorkeling experience that enabled us to swim with huge sting rays and other amazing sea creatures (safely, of course). Adults can enjoy some play time at the well-appointed casino and upscale shops, or choose to relax at the spa while kids have a great time at the Discovery Camp or Teen Club. We also had a pleasing experience using the in-room babysitting service in the evening when our kids were younger (ages 7 and under).
Tips for Families
The property is tremendous, and most of the water slides are located between the Royal Towers and The Cove. To avoid long walks in the early morning to stake out chairs near these attractions, consider staying in one of those locations. There is a great kiddie pool section near Royal Towers as well. Dinner and on-site snorkeling reservations fill up months in advance, so it's a good idea to make your reservations as soon as you book your visit. Depending on the time of year that you visit, the seating areas around the pools can fill up very quickly. Also, since the Atlantis is not an all-inclusive resort, be prepared for premium pricing on food and beverages. There are dining plans available for those whose families eat large breakfasts and dinners every day. We have found that our kids don't eat enough to justify the dining plan, so it is more cost effective for us to have a Continental breakfast (cereal, bagels, donuts, egg sandwiches, beverages are available in several locations) most days, lunch at the pool, and a traditional or buffet dinner.
