Audubon Zoo, New Orleans, Louisiana

The Audubon Zoo was a destination that I had to convince my husband to check out. He wasn’t expecting much because, as he says, we already have one of the most amazing zoos in the world (the Bronx Zoo), and what could top that? Well, it is true that the Bronx Zoo is pretty amazing, but the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans is nothing to scoff at. From the minute you walk in you can tell this place is pretty cool. Colorful and fun, the zoo is captivating in many ways. From white tigers to Asian elephants, there was much to see and learn. We absolutely loved walking through the Louisiana Swamp Exhibit and ended our day at The Monkey Hill where the boys climbed rocks and the five-level tree house before cooling off in the wading pools.

The Audubon Zoo is a fantastic place for people of all ages. On Mother's Day all mothers get in free. We went with my in-laws, and my son loved it. He lasted about 3 hours before he fell asleep after lunch. There is a free concert in the afternoon, but we did not stay since my son was napping. There are better days to visit. The Mother's Day deal has gotten very popular, and the zoo was as crowded as I've ever seen it. We've been to several zoos since, but none has compared. In 3.5 hours we didn't even come close to seeing it all. Now that he is older, we plan to return.

We go to the Audubon Zoo all the time. Its so much fun and very educational for the kiddos. Their is a beautiful fountain with elephants that people will take your picture by. Their are elephants, moneys, zebras, lions, tiger, bears, oh my! But the best part is the swamp exibit. Its set up like you are on a swamp. Its on a board walk. THIS IS A MUST SEE!
