The Barcelona Aquarium is a fun family attraction, and as one of Europe’s largest, this aquarium doesn’t disappoint. Featured areas include the Mediterranean tanks, tropical tanks, Planeta Aqua, mini aquariums, the Oceanarium and Explora! This last area is one of the Aquarium’s child-focused features, an interactive space with over 50 activities to touch, look at, listen to and otherwise stimulate interest in sea life. There are many activities for children and families, including overnight stays and up-close encounters with sharks. Children 8 years old and up can actually swim in the tanks with sharks and be surrounded by masses of colorful fish – a unique experience to be sure! A live show with various fish and animals rotates from day to day, and showcases some of the 11,000 creatures that live at the Aquarium. The Barcelona Aquarium has something to interest kids of all ages, and is a sure bet for families visiting the city.
