Educational and tons of fun, the Beale Street Historic District is known as one of the birthplaces of blues. In the 1860s, the Young Men's Brass Band became the first traveling musicians to call Beale Street home. Since then, it has become a gathering place for blues musicians. Church park, located on 4th and Beale was central to these gatherings, acting as a recreational cultural center where musicians could play together. Today, blues clubs and restaurants line the streets. Families will get a music lesson and a great taste of Memphis cooking in the Beale Street Historic District.
