Beautiful Park, Fun Festivals & EventsFlag review
Located just north of Syracuse, Beaver Lake Nature Center consists of nine miles of trails and offers over 400 events and programs for adults and children year-round. Among our family's favorites are the Golden Harvest Festival in the Fall, during which local vendors sell their wares in a maze of tents while jugglers, entertainers, live music, horse-drawn carriage rides, and even a petting zoo keep children entertained. Later in the Fall near Halloween, Enchanted Beaver Lake offers a unique experience - visitors can follow the trails through the woods at night while they are lit only by the glow of hundreds and hundreds of exquisitely carved Jack-o-Lanterns. In the Spring, Beaver Lake is, in my opinion, the best place to go for Maple Weekend. A walk-through of the woods reveals guided stations that take visitors through a step-by-step process of making maple syrup. Tastings in the woods are included. Our favorite - can you tell real maple syrup from fake? The visitors' center often hosts indoor animal exhibits, and there is a small gift shop inside.
Tips for Families
Check online to see what activities and events are available during your visit. If you want to attend Enchanted Beaver Lake, get your tickets well in advance, because the event sells out quickly.
