Bourbon Street, located in New Orleans' historic French Quarter, is a testament to the unique cultural heritage of New Orleans. While missing Spanish and French architecture, the street has played a large part in the evolution of American Jazz. Such artists as King Oliver and Jelly Roll Morton once played on this famous street, and today its Jazz heritage is not forgotten as the ''To Be Continued Brass Band'' can be seen playing on the streets. Although its rowdy nightlife has gained a bit of a reputation, during the day families can stroll through the streets, allowing kids to get a taste of jazz and fabulous New Orleans cuisine. There are a number of souvenir shops on Bourbon street, making it great place for families to grab a memento and soak up the eclectic culture of New Orleans.

Many of the bars are located in the central section of Bourbon Street. If visiting with young children, families may want to avoid this area at night. However, the area is more than safe for families during the day and is full of family-friendly entertainment.

This is a fun place. For adults. Sure they allow kids here, but I do not reccomend it. This street has a lot of adult themed shops and entertainment. Some of the entertainment spills out in the streets and you can see the scantly clad girls. They have tons of bars here as well as drunk people. Not a place I want my kids. But if you have someone that can sit with your kids this is a fun place. Their is all sorts of clubs. Their is adult entertainment every where. Its a lot of bars and strip clubs. But they have live music everywhere. It is fun and New Orleans is kind of know for this street. You owe it to yourself to try it out if you can and are interested. But this is not the only thing New Orleans offers if this is not for you so do not write off the entire city based on this one street.
