Ok, if rock tumblers are your thing.Flag review
We had been staying at a very calm beach in Delaware Bay, and wanted to shoot for waves with some oomph. We are learning to be more specific. The big difference, as we are learning (we are not experienced beach folks, obviously) is where the waves break, and how much surf you can ride. This beach is lovely, clean, has free bathrooms with showers, and abundant lifeguards. We even met some nice folks who come there regularly. My daughter, however, ended up in tears because any time she tried to ride her boogie board she just got churned and chewed by the waves, which broke directly on the beach. I didn't end up in tears, but didn't like the feeling I was inside a rock tumbler, either. I don't know if where the waves break can change with weather or some other variable, but we would not be in a hurry to repeat this situation at this or any other beach. And if you find a pair of pink swim goggles, Joyanna misses them, because "they were the only ones that we found that were comfortable and fit so water wouldn't get in."
Tips for Families
Beware the rock tumbling breakers on the beach. Not easy for little ones, especially. Certain places have a bad riptide but this didn't appear to be a big problem here. Always, always, always be aware of where your kids are by the water. We bought fluorescent yellow shirts so we could easily spot them, even underwater if necessary. It was very helpful to find them!!!
