Casa Loma stands as a monument to knights, chivalry and romance. Sir Henry Pellatt's many business and military connections demanded entertainment on a large scale. He needed a castle as large and multi-faceted as his social life. Thus, Casa Loma was born, costing $3.5 million to build and decorated with expensive artwork from Canada and around the world. Today, the building's soaring battlements and secret passageways charm tourists and keeps Pellatt's vision alive. In fact, Casa Loma is one of the premier tourist attractions and hospitality venues in Toronto and remains a sought after location for film, television and photography shoots. Tours are self-guided, giving visitors the opportunity to explore the grounds at their leisure, accompanied only by a multimedia audio guide. Standing as a memorial to its creator, Casa Loma remains an architectural wonder and continues to entertain many visitors each year.
