One of the largest Anglican cathedral and church and the fourth largest Christian church in the world, the beautiful Cathedral of St. John the Divine is the cathedral of the Episcopal Diocese of New York and one of the city's most visited historic attractions. People come here to worship but people also come for guided and self-guided visits. It housed one of the biggest pieces of sculptures ever displayed in the United States, "Phoenix," by Chinese artist Xu Bing. Originally designed in the Byzantine Revival-Romanesque Revival styles, the plan was changed after 1909 to a Gothic Revival design.
