Cave Spring is a trip back to a simpler time. This 36-acre urban nature center reflects the diversity of Kansas City's cultural and natural history. This ''naturalist's heaven'' dates back to the 1840s, when covered wagons spotted its trails, and the park served as a camp for weary travelers. Today, the Cave Spring area is an outdoor educational facility, boasting 74 different varieties of flowers, as well as gorgeous prairie grasses, cattail marsh and meadows. After a day of exploring the city, the Cave Spring offers families a breath of fresh air and a scenic, calming excursion through an all-natural territory.
