We are now the proud owners of a membership!!!  It all happen so fast!!! As you can probably tell, the membership is not really for us...oh we will be here but again not really for us. There is a really dangerous tire ship which the kids can climb up.  It is a lot of fun until you have to climb up an save your little one before she falls out of it.  It is a little scary.  I wonder if anyone has taken the plunge from the top? Each of the individual rooms on the second floor were great.  I loved that there was one way in and one way out...it was really easy to watch the kids.  I just had to camp out at the gate and just wait. This place brings out the creativity for any child.  I was fun watching my little one...

With my museum pass in hand (from the Chicago Public Library, it's checked out like a book), my sister, 7yr old niece and 3yr old nephew spent an afternoon hanging out at the children's museum.   The kids loved: -Dressing up in firefighter gear and sliding down the fire pole in the play it safe fire education area. -Building lil skyscrapers in the skyl...

We check out the free museum pass from the Chicago Public Library so the admission is free and we just have to pay the $20 to park.  Not a bad deal!  The library pass is only good for a family of four which is kind of a bummer since children pay starting at age 1 so when our new twins age out we are a family of 5.  But the museum membership for 6 is $165 and you can buy a parking option for an additional $80 or so.  I don't know where I am going with that but I just felt the need to put that info out there.  Oh yeah, that's what I wanted to say.  It seems a little money hungry to charge kids starting at age 1 since there is not a whole lot of fun to be had for a baby, but oh well.  I am sure rent at the pier...

If I could give this place zero stars I would. This place is an overpriced tourist trap...which would be alright if it was half decent inside. It is dirty, poorly-staffed, poorly-maintained, and over-priced. It is $12 a person, including a two year old to play with a bunch of cheaply setup, worn-out toys. The water exhibit is dirty, unorganized and many parts of the exhibit were broken or off at the time of our visit. The only positive thing was they provide raincoats for the kids, so they don't get too wet. They have a fort exhibit which is a pathetic excuse for a museum exhibit. It's a bunch of blankets and couches and rugs where the kids are supposed to build forts. I could do this for free at home minus ...

I hang out with a 2 year-old every Thursday whose family has a membership to the Children's Museum. C LOVES firetrucks, so of course we spend a lot of time at the very first exhibit. Things I love: -The fact that this isn't the same Children's Museum I knew as a kid- I'm glad they keep the exhibits somewhat fresh. -The opportunities for the under 5 yrs group. Sometimes the littler ones get run over at the park, but here it seems like a lot of 2-5 years olds are just loving the place! -The fact that C's family has a 1 child/1 adult membership and either nanny can bring him. They're super accommodating -The current fort exhibit! I think I had more fun than C! He's so funny and gets excited about building the f...

As everyone mentioned, this place is great for kids!!   One of the best kids museums I've ever been to.  But as also mentioned, there really isn't much to do if you're under 2 years old.  But there is so much to see and do if you're a bigger kid!!   The only problem I have with this place, and probably most museums, especially kids museums......is it gets pretty packed and crazy when the schools take their field trips there.  A big tip, do NOT go there at this time!!  You might even call ahead to see what days the local schools are going.  This might not be something you can avoid because maybe schools are going there every day!  So I would avoid the weekdays.  I would say the weekend crowd is better to deal...
