Still a great place for kids!Flag review
We have been visiting the Children's Museum of the Lowcountry since my now 6 yr old was a newborn. It is a great museum for kids! Everything is hands on for kids but it's size is not overwhelming for parents (or kids). The museum is in an old cotton warehouse right between the Charleston Visitor's Center on Meeting St and shopping on King St - so it's 1 room wide and long. It has a pirate room, water room, art room, fabulous Middle Ages Knight/Castle room, a baby/tot area, and mini grocery store. It's a great stop for kids to just run around after shopping/museum hopping.
Tips for Families
I like to park in the parking garage by the Visitor Center (off Meeting St). They sell inexpensive snacks/drinks in the lobby that you can eat outside or in the lobby picnic area. Cupcake on King St is a great post museum treat. Basil on King St is super yummy - my kids LOVE the Chicken Coconut soup.
