Visit My Hometown in Greater Cincinnati, OHFlag review
Cincinnati is family and budget friendly. Lots of fun things to do. The Museum Center is one of our Favorite places to visit rain or shine. They have 3 Large scale museums here the Cincinnati, Ohio history Museum - Cincinnati Children's Museum and the Natural history Museum. They also have an I-max theater and currently they have the additional Traveling exhibit about Princess Diana. It is cheaper if you do the 2 or more museum passes. We can usually see all 3 museums in a day depending on how fast we tour. If you have small children 7 and under most of your day will be well spent at the children's museum no need to leave. They have a large indoor playground that is a treehouse with multiple slides - bridges - Tunnels - caves - fun places to visit on both stories of the tree house. Great for all ages my kids still ask to go there even though they are 10 and 12 now but we do not stay as long in the children's museum as we once did. Now their favorite is the Natural History museum where you can travel back in time to see Dinosaurs and visit the ice age. You can tour a real cave. In the Cincinnati History Museum they love the historic Train display and the Riverboat and dock area. They love it so much we will be going back again tomorrow. If you you need a Lunch or snack they also have a food court and a historic ice cream parlor. It is in the Historic Train Station that was used during the world wars this was a great reuse of a truly historic Landmark.
Tips for Families
With small children buy just the children's museum ticket, because you will have a hard time getting them to leave or at least go to that area later in the day. Other wise it is better to buy the multi-museum package to get the best price. You also might want to go to the Cincinnati Zoo or the Newport Aquarium, Newport KY on the other side of the river, while you are in town both are excellent for kids of all ages.
