Off-the-beach with the ButterfliesFlag review
Butterfly World is located 20 minutes north of Fort Lauderdale in Tradewinds Park. It has all the requisite butterflies in a natural setting plus an aviary and lorikeet feeding area. Indoors there are several "rooms" to stroll through and we found it interesting to watch the butterflies eat bananas and other food. There's also a mister in the last room. With an 8 and 10 year old, we spent about 30 minutes indoors and another 45 minutes in the aviary, lorikeet area and bug area. The outside is nicely landscaped and there's a cafe with basic kid-fare. At $24.95/adult and $19.95/child it's a bit pricey and I think with younger children who will want to spend more time with the butterflies or older kids that have never experienced a butterfly world this attraction is worth the price. We saw many young families with annual passes which are a great deal.
Tips for Families
If you're traveling with a shopper, the huge indoor Festival Flea Market is 5 minutes from here and is a fun stop for teens that like to shop.
