Beautiful Beach at the Hotel Del Cornado

Flag review

Tips for Families

Eating at the hotel is expensive. La Salsa Restaurant (fast food mexican) on Orange St. has great fish tacos and a kids menu at great prices. You can take the ferry to Coronado Island but its a longish walk to the Hotel Del Coronado. Take the bridge for a great view.

The water was freezing so I started building a sand castle while my daughter was swimming.  I like to build sand castles that challenge the ocean, built just about as far as the water reaches up the beach.  This requires a protective wall, a moat, and a castle in the middle of a small island.  As I started building, a little girl came up and asked me what I was doing like I was a crazy person, but not crazy enough to avoid conversation and eye contact.  Are there really kids who visit the beach and don't know what a sand castle is?  Kids these days!?  I also got some strange looks from adults, but that may have been because my daughter still hadn't joined me yet.  Later, my daughter joined me and built a swi...

Okay so I didn't know you could write reviews about beaches too.. but here it goes. One of the reasons why I love San Diego so much is because of this gorgeous beach! It's as good as it gets- soft sand, blue water, plenty of space and Hotel del Coronado off in the distance.. can't get any better than that! I've been going to this beach ever since I was a little kid mainly to boogeyboard. The waves are really perfect for boogeyboarding, but now that I'm older, I usually just suntan or wade in the water. Coronado also has a lot of cute tiny shops and restaurants you can go to and its pretty fun just to look around. The huge mansions outlining the beach can also be eye candy as well. The only reason I'm giving ...

Breathtakingly Beautiful. If I could begin and end my review with just those two words, I would. The drive through the quaint city of Coronado was enough to sell me on it.    I was deeply drawn in and distracted by the shops, cafes and restaurants peppered all throughout Orange Avenue that I didn't even care about whether or not we reached the beach.  I secretly caught myself several times wishing that we could just pull over and park to walk the Avenue, really.  We luckily missed our turn to get to the beach, but I was not one bit upset as this allowed us more time to sightsee.  We finally reached the beach...and this just flipped the script. Once we found our way, we found parking along the beach fast - I'...

Our one-day family vacation at Coronado Island had me wishing it was a lifetime vacation instead! Soft, glittery sand; Clear water that starts out shallow, so you can see the shells underneath; full with life (clams, mole crabs- the tiny crabs that look like shrimp); attractive people jogging around; restaurants by the shore; cute little place to relax. Everything there is AMAZING. You won't run out of things to do; we sure didn't. My sisters and I started digging in the shallow water for the bigger clams and we even saw some dolphins swimming across while we were about to leave, which definitely made me not want to go back home anymore. I'm definitely gonna be visiting Coronado Beach many, many times once I...

This beach is amazing.  It reminds me of beaches up north like long beach, santa monica, etc.   I went on a Saturday and it wasn't crowded.  I love beaches with large sand areas.  This spreads people out.   I think it's the hotel that gives it that vacation destination vibe.  It feels like everyone is there enjoying a nice vacation and it rubs off on you right away.   Other beaches like Mission and La Jolla Shores are not as relaxing.  These beaches are for birthday parties, family BBQ, etc.  It doesn't have that relaxing vibe to it.  Besides they are not the cleanest either. I usually go to La Jolla Shores, Mission Beach, and Torrey Pines because that is what I am used to.  I never even thought of going to ...

Ohhhh my god, Coronado Beach is BEAUTIFUL. Hotel del Coronado just adds to the perfection of the place - it's so exquisite, it doesn't seem real! I've definitely passed by a couple weddings on this beach - or at least people taking wedding photos. Feels like it's straight out of The Little Mermaid. The beach itself is a lot of fun and interesting - there are some slopes and a long jetty to climb on. The paved sidewalk is very scenic and clean. And when you get to a certain point of the beach, it becomes a sort of thin peninsula, so there's beach on BOTH SIDES. Too bad that area was restricted to the military and their families. Not sure if that's always the case, but it was when we went. I don't give five st...
