Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad, Chama, New Mexico
5234 B Hwy 285, Chama, New Mexico 81120| Map |
Scenic as well as historic, the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad is America's highest and longest steam-operated railroad. The original route included stops in Denver, CO and other parts of the then Wild, Wild West. Still carrying the spirit that won the West, the current route encompasses plenty of adventure. Families can explore the beauty of the mountains, take in the refreshing sights of meadows and creeks, go back in time with a glance at the historic Lobato sheep ranch and perhaps most exciting, journey across the 137 foot high Cascade Creek Trestle, taking in the vastness of the valley below. These are just a few of the sights to be seen on the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad.
