While Daytona Beach's main claim to fame is auto racing, families will find plenty more to do in the area. The city's namesake beach is world-famous for its 23-mile long expanse of pristine white sand and lively boardwalk; additionally, the beach allows vehicle driving during the day. Daytona Beach's Museum of Arts and Sciences is the premier institution of its kind in Central Florida, while the Marine Science Center (located in nearby Ponce Inlet) features interactive exhibits and unique design. Of course, no mention of Daytona Beach would be complete without including the Richard Petty Driving Experience, where visitors can actually get behind the wheel of authentic NASCAR vehicles.
