Families in need of a good dose of nature should head straight to lovely Dixville Notch State Park. Located between the towns of Colebrook and Errol along the fantastically beautiful Route 26, this 127-acre space is brimming with waterfalls, babbling brooks, fantastic hiking trails and one unforgettable gorge. The 1.5 mile Table Rock loop trail is a great place to start. Featuring fantastic views of Balsams Wilderness Resort and Lake Gloriette, this hike (which reaches an impressive 2,700 feet), is one for the books. After the descent, visitors can catch their breath and refuel at the quiet picnic spots, or hit the water for some prime trout fishing. Lake Abeniki, Millsfield Pond, Balsams Wilderness Ski Area, Coleman State Park and Flume Brook are also located nearby for a little extra sightseeing. Lucky visitors may even spot one of the state’s famous moose!
