Tips for Families

This museum is very family-friendly. If you're hungry, there is a cafe although we didn't eat there. There is also an IMAX theater. The museum is really easy to find, and we found plenty of parking close to the building.

Being from New Orleans, I lacked the experience of visiting a Natural History museum until I visited Fernbank. I felt the wonder of a child seeing the dinosaurs, especially the huge, impressive skeletons in the main lobby. But it's not just dinosaurs, although they seem to be the star of the show. Natural history is an impressive thing. Fernbank displays a range of specimens and focuses on Georgia. They also have an IMAX screen, although it could use some slight repair. Even still, it's an impressive way to watch a movie and incredibly immersive. Fernbank also has special exhibits. I got to view an exhibit on Myths, which was a pleasure. I can't wait until my next visit to Atlanta to see what the new special...
