Founded by Roger Williams in 1638, the First Baptist Church of Providence is also the First Baptist Church in America. The congregation's current church was constructed in 1774 and has been in use continuously to the present day. Brown University holds its commencement services here, and in addition to weekly worship services, the church also hosts a wide variety of concerts by world-class artists as well as lectures by renowned scholars and politicians.

Tips for Families
Guided tours of the First Baptist Church of Providence are available after Sunday worship services, and twice a day Monday through Friday, from Memorial Day to Labor Day with the exception of holidays.
