Fish Creek Falls is one of Steamboat Springs’ most popular hiking spots that offers a range of trails for young and old. Conveniently located near downtown Steamboat, the falls can be reached via an easy one-quarter-mile concrete sidewalk, or a half-mile mile trip that takes in a scenic overlook of the falls. Fish Creek Falls are almost 300-feet-high, a cascade of frothing snowmelt that are well worth the walk to see them. The walks are well-groomed with informational signs and picnic areas to use along the way. For those able to walk farther, there is a six-mile hike from the falls to Long Lake that actually leads to the Continental Divide trail. Fish Creek Falls is perfect for families visiting Steamboat since the trail is short and not too strenuous, and it’s easily accessible.
