Little pirates and princesses can live out their fantasies at St. Catherine Fort Bermuda, a well-preserved fort located on the northern tip of St. George. The St. Catherine Fort Bermuda, situated between Catherine Beach and Achilles Bay, is accessible via a drawbridge over a dry moat. Inside the fort, visitors can explore tunnels, towers and ramparts. The fort has historic exhibits and artifacts. The original fort was built in 1614 but it has been renovated several times and today houses a museum with a collection of antique weapons. Visitors will learn that Sir George Somer’s ship crashed in the area in 1609. The crew came ashore where the fort stands today and started Bermuda’s first settlement. Next to the fort is Blackbeard’s Hideout, a restaurant serving lunch and dinner.
