Located about an hour from Vancouver, Garibaldi Provincial Park is a beautiful wilderness area that offers scenic hiking, mountain biking and camping opportunities for families who enjoy the outdoors. Hikers will see lush alpine meadows, flowers and possibly wildlife. Garibaldi Park was created by volcanic action, which formed the area’s many peaks. Lava from Clinker Peak created The Barrier, a natural dam that formed Garibaldi Lake. Swimming and fishing is allowed at the lake. However, visitors should note that there are no lifeguards. Diamond Head is the main area of winter recreation in Garibaldi Park, offering skiing, boarding and snowshoeing. Many other winter opportunities exist within the park, including backcountry skiing.
