Garrapata State Park, Carmel-By-The-Sea, California
Carmel-By-The-Sea, California| Map |
Garrapata State Park is ideal for trail hiking. The park is seven miles round trip with a 1,200-foot elevation gain; it is a steep climb up and down. It features about two miles of spectacular coastline and a steep sampling of the Santa Lucia Mountains. The Rocky Ridge trail starts out moderate but after about a half mile, gets steep and stays steep. Hikers will be treated to an amazing view about an hour-and-a-half to two hours once they make it to the “bench” overlook. For a less strenuous hiking trail, hikers should consider the redwood-lined Soberanes Canyon trail.
