The One Hour Sightseeing Cruise is Fun for the FamilyFlag review
There is just something about big, paddlewheel riverboats. Nostalgia for days gone by or, more likely, too many Mark Twain books. Either way, this was an experience I didn't want to miss. Our boat was the Tom Sawyer (the Becky Thatcher is the 'sister ship'). While the boats are replicas of 19th century paddlewheelers, they feel quite authentic. The narrated tour was informative and entertaining, filled with fun facts about the history of St Louis and the beginnings of the Louis and Clark Expedition. The tour is narrated by both the ship's captain and a park ranger from the Jefferson Expansion Memorial, fun and facts. A snack counter is available on the riverboat and the Arch View Cafe, nearby, offers a more casual dining menu which you can get 'to go' and take on board.
Tips for Families
Take jackets. Even on a hot summer day, the breeze from the river can be quite cool.
