Glimmerglass State Park, located eight miles outside the village of Cooperstown, overlooks Otsego Lake. This famous lake is known as the'' Glimmerglass'' of James Fenimore Cooper's Leatherstocking Tales, and is a beautiful site to see in itself. Also providing wonderful scenery, the rolling, partially-wooded terrain of the park is host to a wide variety of wildlife. In addition, an uphill trail through the forest affords a spectacular view. Providing a great opportunity for kids to learn through play, the popular Nature Explorer Children's Program for ages five to twelve, returns to Glimmerglass State Park this year. All these elements make the park the perfect place for parents and kids to interact with nature.
