Excellent Lake Beach for Little OnesFlag review
With its two glacial lakes that are an ethereal shade of blue-green (check the park information for a scientific explanation of the unusual color), Green Lakes offers a small wading beach that is perfect for little ones to experience playing in the sand and shallow water for the first time. There is also a playground near the beach (no swings) and a walking trail that goes along the perimeter of the main lake. This is a popular picnic spot in the summer.
Tips for Families
Avoid Memorial Day Weekend; the play area is packed and the smell of lighter fluid from the grills scattered throughout is overpowering throughout the playground area. Try to go in the morning if at all possible, as I've noticed that late afternoons seem to attract a less savory crowd for whom family-friendly pursuit are not the purpose of their visit. Thankfully, the park appears fairly well-staffed, and I've witnessed staff members ask visitors with alcohol and/or other prohibited items to leave.
