The Gull Lake Recreation Area is the largest and most popular of Minnesota’s Gull Lakes for vacationers. Located about five miles from Brainerd, Gull Lake Recreation Area offers a wide variety of outdoor activities along its shoreline. Gull Lake’s public beaches are busy with outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy camping, boating, hiking, fishing and swimming in and around the resort towns on the lake. Anglers are drawn to Gull Lake for its healthy population of bass and walleye while hikers have many opportunities to spot wildlife such as, deer, otters, songbirds and the majestic bald eagle. Families will find plenty of options for lodging at any of the 19 resorts in the area; affordable campsites are also available. The campground is nicely laid out with plenty of space; each site comes with hookups, picnic tables and fire rings. For other things to do, there are amusement parks, golf courses and shopping well within the general Gull Lake Recreation Area.

Tips for Families
Campers at the Gulf Lake Recreation Area should note that drinking water and vault toilets are only available April 15 - Oct. 31; shower facility is open May 1 - Sept. 30.
