Haleakala National Park, puts the earth's diverse terrain on display. Hiking trails through this park take visitors over 27 miles of wilderness, passing through a rainforest, shrubland and passed the Haleakala Crater. The crater has now cooled, but reminders of the once hot, flowing lava are visible in the red, yellow, grey and black streaks that run along the crater. On the way, families will see much wildlife and scenic landscape. A visit to the Haleakala National Park is a great way to teach the kids about our earth's geology and natural wonders.
