Hana, Hawaii

The hospitality, the food, the landscape and the spa were amazing! Absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. We were only there for one night/two days, to break up our Road to Hana drive. We had a wonderful sunset horseback ride over the neighboring property along the ocean (through the trees, over the fields, around some bulls, and it was incredible). Our room was immaculate, but dated (counter top laminate was stained)--the only real downer. Two ceiling fans, no A/C (but then I wasn't expecting it), I was a little too warm. The beds were comfy and richly dressed. The grounds were amazing. Swim, soak in the hot tub, nap in the hammock, sit under the stars around the fire, watch the sun set and the stars come out...

This was a nice place to stay on the wet side of the island in Hana, close to many waterfalls and the seven pools. barbecue area...

I highly recommend Hana Travaasa. We stayed in the all inclusive sea cottages and found everything to be amazing. We traveled with our two teenage daughters and we all loved every minute of our stay. The grounds are amazing, the spa services excellent. The food was delicious. The service at Hana Travaasa was the best! Everyone there was friendly and helpful. Hana itself is an amazing special paradise. From now on whenever we decide on a tropical vacation it will be Hana Travaasa. We had stayed at the Ritz Carlton on the other side of the island the first 4 nights then Hana the second 4 nights. The Ritz is nice but seemed corporate and you felt anonymous. Staff were very welcoming, helpful, with Hawaiian hospitality. The Hawaiian music (Sundays & Thursdays I think) was astounding, wonderful. Locals who are superb lifelong musicians. The dining room personnel weren't up to their task -- couldn't seat us, couldn't tell us ...

Hana Kai is clean and comfortable and right on the Hana bay. The waves are cool and the coy pond is a nice touch we used the BBQ grills to grill chops and chicken there are 2 small stores in town to by groceries and they have what you need. Parking is tight but it is every where on your trip to Hana. Dont miss the drive to Hana . It will be your highlight to your trip to Maui. And Hana Kai will give you the place to rest on this long drive . I did see from previous reviews that the Hana Kai could be noisy with thin walls. It was very true that we heard footsteps above us...the guest book was full of comments about the elephant wearing concrete shoes running a relay race and I thought it would really bother me at night, but we slept so well with the crashing waves right outside our window that I ended up getting great sleep both nights we stayed. The condo itself (the lower ocean front unit) had a beautifully updated kitchen but the bathroom was still from the 1970's and there were signs of wear and tear...things just wear out faster in such a climate so I wasn't too upset about this. I do think the price was too high but I guess they can get awa...
