YesBusy, crowded and impersonal.
We checked into the Rainbow Tower (one of five Towers) of this Hotel on the 2nd July 2012. The large number of people in the reception area struck me. Even the drive way was continuously busy with moving and parking vehicles. It turned out that it is like this all day and at night. Generally, the staff is polite, although I encountered a couple that was not at all helpful. The lifts have a system where the floor numbers are pressed from outside the lift doors and one of the five lifts is highlighted to take you up. About the room: We had a west facing room. Lots of positives, some negatives--overall resort and Alii Tower
We just returned from a 7-night visit, stayed in the Alii Tower. This resort has many more positives than negatives, so I'll start with the negatives: - It's a very large resort with lots of people everywhere. If what you want is a more secluded resort, this is not it. - It's not right in the heart of Waikiki shops and restaurants, but it is an easy walk (under a mile) - Alii Tower--is not brand new, but still nice. If you want a recently renovated room/bathroom, choose a different tower. - Closet is in the bathroom--great size closet, but to access it you need to enter the outer part of the bathroom (main sink area). - Long line to check in if you're not staying in Alii Tower, which has it's own check-in. Convenient full resort
It is truly the only full resort in Waikiki and the pools have water slides so the kids really enjoy being there. Since it is a Village with retail stores and restaurants, there is always a lot going on but it feels busy. Cars, people, security managing traffic, long check-in lines (move fairly quickly due t...
