Tips for Families

Take surfing lessons--the waves at Waikiki tend to be gentle enough that it's an easy place to learn, and the photos are priceless!

Busy, crowded and impersonal.

Submitted by: KT-JKLLim

We checked into the Rainbow Tower (one of five Towers) of this Hotel on the 2nd July 2012. The large number of people in the reception area struck me. Even the drive way was continuously busy with moving and parking vehicles. It turned out that it is like this all day and at night. Generally, the staff is polite, although I encountered a couple that was not at all helpful. The lifts have a system where the floor numbers are pressed from outside the lift doors and one of the five lifts is highlighted to take you up. About the room: We had a west facing room. It was quite large and comfortable. The rooms can accommodate four people. There's a nice balcony, with a table and two armchairs. Views form our room wa...

Lots of positives, some negatives--overall resort and Alii Tower

Submitted by: Barbara-AZ

We just returned from a 7-night visit, stayed in the Alii Tower. This resort has many more positives than negatives, so I'll start with the negatives: - It's a very large resort with lots of people everywhere. If what you want is a more secluded resort, this is not it. - It's not right in the heart of Waikiki shops and restaurants, but it is an easy walk (under a mile) - Alii Tower--is not brand new, but still nice. If you want a recently renovated room/bathroom, choose a different tower. - Closet is in the bathroom--great size closet, but to access it you need to enter the outer part of the bathroom (main sink area). - Long line to check in if you're not staying in Alii Tower, which has it's own check-in. H...

Convenient full resort

Submitted by: Glen H

It is truly the only full resort in Waikiki and the pools have water slides so the kids really enjoy being there. Since it is a Village with retail stores and restaurants, there is always a lot going on but it feels busy. Cars, people, security managing traffic, long check-in lines (move fairly quickly due t...

Pleasant Stay but pool situation a mess!

Submitted by: jerseygirl138

Just returned from weeklong stay at HHV..stayed in Tapa Tower..nice room, high floor big balcony..very quiet..convenient to shops and ABC store. This hotel is huge - a city style hotel. Pools always jammed and one closed for poop in lagoon pool! had to wait for shock treatment to take effect! There is zero enforcement of swim diapers anywhere!! To me this is horrific! Also, for the high prices why arent there enough pool chairs? vacationers have to sit on beach towels on the sand unless they want to pay 15$ for a chair - thats ridiculous! Long lines wrap around check in desk after 9 am. I complained to mmgt about no chairs at pools - they gave me a credit of $50 to get a chair by the beach - thats something ...

Great Family Vacation

Submitted by: BusinessTraveler967

Nice set of pools with water slides and a lagoon. My kids were very satisfied. The food is overpriced and it is very crowded. 40% of the patrons are Japanese. Signs are in Japanese and English. Beautiful, calm beach. Good place for families and young children. Good shopping across the street and central...

Great hotel for families

Submitted by: sm5486

Just amazing. Had issues with checkin and the room, but staff took care to resolve the issue almost immediately. Try and get the rainbow tower room with Diamond Head views. Just spectacular. While at the villiage, you feel as if everything is at your fingertips. Was with my family (wife and 2 kids ages 8 and 6) and they had a blast. Strolls along the beach and of course playing in the lagoon and pool. The small water slide is a nice touch but the kids really enjoyed playing with other kids in the kiddie pool. The hotel also provides a kid day camp called Camp Penguin, we didn't use this time around but will consider for the next time. I saw a lot of parents drop their kids off and the kids seem to have fun. ...

Exactly everything it said it would be!

Great family vacation-although there was construction going on--it did not interfere with our hotel stay. Perhaps the thing that I was most pleased with was the hospitality room tha...
