Families looking for a little history, a little fresh air and a little wholesome kid-friendly fun will love New Hampshire’s Hobo Railroad. Though the working railroad (which operates on two heritage lines) is the main attraction, families also have a ball tackling the miniature golf course, playground and gift shop and meeting Buddy the Hobo Clown. After all that fun, a relaxing train ride through the meadows and forests is just the ticket. All trains leave from the vintage Hobo Junction Train Station located in Lincoln, including the extra special Ho-Ho-Hobo Santa Trains (which come complete with cookies, cocoa and a visit from Santa) and Polar Express which runs during the winter holidays. However, before the snow falls guests should definitely try to squeeze in a breathtaking four-hour fall foliage ride or a relaxing Dinner Train ride, which offers lovely Pemigiwasset River views. Kids will love hearing the blast of a real steam engine horn while munching on their tasty Hobo Dinners. Other yummy snacks such as sandwiches, chips, cookies and ice cream sandwiches are also available.
