Tips for Families

Wait to stay here until this hotel makes major renovations to the interior. If you insist on staying here in the meantime, make sure it's with older kids who can handle long, uphill walks. "Metro accessible" is used in the loosest sense of the term here, as in, just because it's physically possible to get to the Metro doesn't mean it's convenient or easy with small children. Don't stay here with anyone you'll end up having to carry uphill the whole way home every day. Also, if you do choose to stay here, there's a Whole Foods and a Starbucks within walking distance (Google Map it).

Suggestions for nearby family-friendly accommodations

The National Mall is fairly close, with many excellent museums and attractions.

Suggestions for nearby family-friendly restaurants

Head to nearby Dupont Circle, where great restaurants abound. If you go to the National Zoo, take a cab from there to 2Amy's, which is a mile from the nearest Metro station (Cleveland Park) and deserving of its status one of the top 50 pizza places in the country. For an awesome Sichuan hot pot experience that's fun for the whole family especially with older kids, take the Metro to Virginia Square and walk a couple of blocks to Mala Tang.

Great Place for a Family to Stay

Submitted by: guest

20-minute or so walk to major attractions at the national mall. Great neighborhood with many nearby dining options. Or, if you want to really take advantage of the meal savings, you can do the "manager's reception" which is a complimentary dinner (evening's entree is posted on the fridge in your room) with free wine and beer! Only problem for us was [...

I'd stay here again and everytime!

A stressful event turned out to be very pleas

Submitted by: CollegeMom

We did a cross-country road-trip to take our child to college. Hotel rooms were scarce, and we ended-up having to pay extra to get a suite because it was the only thing available. When I arrived, I was informed that despite I had requested non-smoking, the room was in fact smoking because that was the only thing available when I reserved the room and there was no other accommodations available. When I went to the room, although the hall way smelt of smoke, the room itself had no trace of smoke. And the extra money I paid for the suite was worth it. The staff was extra generous, polite, and helpful. Furthermore, the complementary hot breakfast, lunch/dinner was wonderful and full of variety. I will stay there...

Our family of four was comfortable enough in the suite. The daily breakfast was at times very crowded, but we all left satisfied. The nearest metro is a 15 minute walk which during the heat w...

When we first arrived the front desk people were very friendly and helpful with suggestions for dinner and other DC sights. However, I do feel that they were short staffed, because after that there always seemed to be people waiting for assistance. The same is true for the valet service. If you are patient and don't mind...

Very Good Breakfast and evening meal

Submitted by: JackieL

The daily free hot breakfast is excellent - a wide selection of hot and cold food, which will help save you a lot of money. They offer a light evening meal M-Th nights, which is also quite good. The only negatives I would say are the high parking fees, which appear to...
