The Author Suites feature decor that recreate the individual style of these literary icons, and have panoramic views of the Mississippi River, French Quarter or downtown skyline. For example, the Tennessee Williams Suite is available in a one or two-bedroom configuration and offers views of the French Quarter. Gorgeous hotel in the French QuarterFlag review
This hotel is GORGEOUS. It's an iconic, four-star luxury hotel at the foot of Royal Street. There's a heated pool on the roof (for those days the kids are tired of sightseeing) with a stunning view, and the hotel also offers in-room dining (which the kids love doing at least once every trip). In addition, they have an on-site restaurant as well as the Carousel Bar and Lounge. The kids walked into our room and both said, "Wow." It is certainly different than the hotels we normally stay at. Our room was very fancily decorated with gold striped wallpaper, colorful tufted seating and floral curtains. The kids absolutely loved it and were in awe. Plus, for being as close as the hotel is to the French Quarter we were afraid it would be a little loud at night - but we couldn't hear anything outside, which was lovely!
Tips for Families
This hotel is in the heart of the French Quarter, so it's central to most attractions. You can walk through the French Quarter, obviously, but also to Riverwalk and Jackson Square.

I chose to stay at the Monteleone, in large part, because I really enjoy their bar (The Carousel Bar.) It was very disappointing to find out that it is currently being renovated, and it will be closed until December 1st. I found out about this at check in, and did not receive any notification about these renovations in advance from Hotel.com or the […] Monteleone. The service was not up to the excellent standards that I have come to expect from this traditionally great hotel either. My father in law's room was not cleaned on one of the days that we were there, and we were out of the room from 9:00am to 5:00pm. When we notified the front desk that the room was not cleaned, no action was taken by them to clean ...
Staff was very friendly and quick to respond. Construction noise started at 5 a.m. with emptying of dumpsters on floor below us. Hotel was nice. Rooms were smal...
This hotel was well kept and in an excellent location. Centrally located in the French Quarter, it was easy walking anywhere. The rooms are rather cramped, but that is typical of how buildings were designed many years ago. This hotel is in an excellent location of...
