With its convenient location near, but not on top of the lively French Quarter, the historic Hotel Monteleone New Orleans offers family-style luxury. Kids will love the heated rooftop pool with panoramic views of the Mississippi River and colorful French Quarter, while parents will take delight in the plush suites, day spa and state-of-the-art-fitness center. Even the family dog is welcome for an additional fee. Furry friends are indulged with their own mat with water and food bowls, a bag of treats and a pet-friendly brochure filled with places in the city where they are welcome. Established in 1886, the Hotel Monteleone has 600 well-appointed luxury rooms including 55 luxury suites, many with spacious parlors ideal for lounging or entertaining family and friends. A unique feature to this luxury hotel is its signature Author Suites, dedicated to famous American writers from the south that have stayed at the Hotel Monteleone and/or written about it. The Author Suites feature decor that recreate the individual style of these literary icons, and have panoramic views of the Mississippi River, French Quarter or downtown skyline. For example, the Tennessee Williams Suite is available in a one or two-bedroom configuration and offers views of the French Quarter. The author included the Hotel Monteleone in his play, The Rose Tattoo. The Hotel Monteleone’s luxury rooms and suites include an in-room safe, refrigerator, big-screen TV, plush robes, iron and ironing board and a hairdryer. Additional hotel amenities include WiFi, Internet and a full-service business center. When it comes to enjoying dining with a cozy ambiance, the Hotel Monteleone New Orleans is the place to be. The Criollo Restaurant, representing the amalgam of cultures reflected in New Orleans cooking and the unique tastes that define Louisiana cuisine, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Ordering room service at least once is a treat for the kids -- and mom and dad. Another must-see is the signature Carousel Bar & Lounge featuring live music. Offering a menu of New Orleans cuisine and classic regional cocktails, the venue has the only revolving bar in New Orleans.

Gorgeous hotel in the French QuarterFlag review
This hotel is GORGEOUS. It's an iconic, four-star luxury hotel at the foot of Royal Street. There's a heated pool on the roof (for those days the kids are tired of sightseeing) with a stunning view, and the hotel also offers in-room dining (which the kids love doing at least once every trip). In addition, they have an on-site restaurant as well as the Carousel Bar and Lounge. The kids walked into our room and both said, "Wow." It is certainly different than the hotels we normally stay at. Our room was very fancily decorated with gold striped wallpaper, colorful tufted seating and floral curtains. The kids absolutely loved it and were in awe. Plus, for being as close as the hotel is to the French Quarter we were afraid it would be a little loud at night - but we couldn't hear anything outside, which was lovely!
Tips for Families
This hotel is in the heart of the French Quarter, so it's central to most attractions. You can walk through the French Quarter, obviously, but also to Riverwalk and Jackson Square.

Beautiful hotel, everything you could hope for.
This is such a beautiful hotel and so delightful to stay in that it is well worth the cost. As I was always taught, It doesn't cost that much more to go first class The Hotel Monteleone was not my first choice only because I wanted to stay in a real Creole cottage. I was born and raised in New Orleans, and I am a French, Spanish Creole of Europen decent, and I lived in the Garden District. But I had a lovely great aunt who lived in la Vieux Carre (French Quarters) and I used to love to visit her in her little Creole cottage on Charters St. So last month when I took my 16 year old granddaughter back to New Orleans with me (I took her the first time in 2009 she fell in love with my beautiful home town.) So thi...
Great location in the French Quarter
The Monteleone is wonderfully situated in the French Quarter and so it isn't a big hike to anything in the area. As for the hotel itself my room was adequate - just big enough for the two beds without any extra room to walk around- but the bathroom is very tight. We arrived on a Monday and everything was fine but once the weekend neared then the groups arrived and chaos reined in the lobby which was then best to be avoided. Staff was very cooperative and pleasant but understandably harried once the weekend arrived. There is a very nice but small pool on the roof with lounge chairs as well as small but well equipped gym. It is best to request a room at the back of the hotel for quiet but we weren't there at M...
Superb Landmark Hotel; Wonderful in every way....
Recently stayed at the Monteleone. It is the best of numerous hotels I have stayed at in the French Quarter over the last decade. It's the one I'd return to without blinking an eye. The hotel itself is beautiful - tastefully decorated with interesting and ornate antique items. The staff is friendly, helpful, highly competent, and they have a nice sense of humor. The rooms are very nicely decorated, clean, quiet, and well decorated. Room service is great. Whether you are ordering something truly primo or a late night burger, you wil not be disappointed. The location is perfect. You are close to the action, but far enough away from the mischief to make for a family friendly experience. The Monteleone is a grea...
Beautiful old hotel
The lobby area was outstanding! The rooms and bathrooms were average. A lock on the bathroom door would have been nice. We reserved a room with a view of the river 3 months in advance but for some reason when we arrived they said there weren't any available so we settled for a view of Bourbon St. I'm guessing the more important clientele received the river view rooms. The parking price of $30 is crazy but I knew the price ahead of time and being in the middle of New Orleans parking is a valuable commodity and besides Earl was super friendly. The pool was nice and clean and all of the pool staff was really nice. The location of the hotel is probably what I liked the most about it, well that and the fantastic ...
