The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art houses the personal art collection of the Ringling's, who were avid art collectors. This museum holds works from some of the greatest masters of art such as, Rubens, Van Dyck, Velázquez, Titian, Tintoretto, Veronese, El Greco and Gainsborough. The museum building is a piece of art in itself. In 1925 John Ringling engaged architect John H. Phillips to design the museum. It stands today as a brilliant monument to Mable Ringling, who died during its construction. Outside, visitors will find a fragrant 27,225 sq. ft garden and casts of famous sculptures. Michelangelo's David stands right outside, providing those who can't make it to Italy with a look at the famous statue. With European, American and Asian art, the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art is an artistic world tour.
