Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, Berlin, Germany
Kurfurstendamm, Berlin, Germany 10789| Map |
Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church has had an unfortunate history. It was built in the 1890s and stood as a fantastic gothic style building. However, in 1943 it was severely damaged in a bombing raid. Today, the ruins of the old church have been incorporated into the architectural design of the new church. As a symbol of endurance, the damaged spire of the old church remains, and serves as a memorial hall. The Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, with its brilliant mosaics and dazzling blue is a feat of modern architecture, yet tips its hat towards the past.

Tips for Families
The church has an interesting history. A British war pilot was actually instrumental in the church's reconstruction. It is a great opportunity for the kids to study architecture and learn about WWII.
