World-class museumFlag review
This amazing museum spans three city blocks, so it would be easy to spend an entire day admiring the 150,000-plus art collection housed in six mega buildings. Most galleries are included in the price of general admission but special exhibits require a separate ticket. We get there in the morning and work our way through the buildings, stopping for lunch at noon. There are several good onsite restaurants. Art extends beyond museum walls. There’s an outdoor sculpture garden, reflecting pool and Urban Light, a collection of 202 vintage streetlamps lined up in rows. Concerts and classes for kids, teens and adults make LACMA a very family-friendly venue.
Tips for Families
For a clear view of the Hollywood sign, step onto the observation deck of the Broad Contemporary Art Museum’s third floor. In the same building, ride the huge elevator the size of two or three rooms.
