Rating for your family
One of four large reservoirs on the Colorado River, Lake Havasu is a year-round destination that is especially popular with snowbirds from the north who visit for the mild weather. But, Lake Havasu also attracts families who enjoy the outdoors. Things to do with kids in Lake Havasu, AZ include boating, swimming and fishing. The lake covers 35 miles of the river along the Arizona and California border, with much of it hugging rugged mountains, making it inaccessible by car. However, most people go to Lake Havasu State Park, where they can enjoy family-friendly beaches, nature trails, boating and camping. Two towns -- Parker and the larger Lake Havasu City -- provide lodging, shopping and other services. Lake Havasu City, situated on the east side of the lake, has lakeside access and is the hub for shopping and dining as well as golfing at the area’s four courses.
