An homage to Chicago's motto "Urbs in Horto" (City in a Garden), this five-acre garden is a favourite with families looking to educate their kids about nature. Lurie Garden is home to a beautiful perennial garden, lovely hardwood footbridge, and spectacular 15-foot-high "shoulder" hedge. Family-friendly activities at Lurie Garden include interactive educational programs, lectures, workshops and walks for adults and children. Kids can learn about science and ecology through art and exploration and toddlers will enjoy discovering about nature through music and movement. In spring and summer (May 5 until September 21) seasonal tours are offered for free on Thursdays and Fridays from 11 am to 1.30 pm and on Sundays from 10 am to 1.30 pm. Tours last 20 minutes and depart every 20 minutes. No registration is required.
