Mad River Glen has been a skier’s (sorry, snowboarders) paradise since 1948. Famous for both its single-chair lift and challenging terrain park, this lovely, rustic ski resort is perfect for wintery family fun. Both greenhorns and those looking to hone their skills on the slopes will love the Mad River Ski School, which tailors classes to fit everyone from toddlers to seniors. Plus, even when the snow is scarce Mad River Glen offers well-groomed runs thanks to its top of the line snow machines. At the base of Slalom Hill is the new Kent Thomas Nature Center, a fantastic interpretive center where families can learn all about local wildlife on and around the ski area’s home base, General Stark Mountain. As Mad River Glen is deeply invested in local conservation and preservation, the Center is an important (and fun!) component to any Mad River Glen experience, and is open year-round. Families can round out a Mad River Glen experience by hitting the snowshoeing trails, kicking up their ski boots at the famous Basebox lodge, or visiting the fantastic local restaurants nearby.
