Lovely, historic park lodge with fab location, basic accommodationsFlag review
We loved this property, partly for its fab location near the Mammoth Hot Spring terraces and the North Entrance, and partly because every evening a herd of elk came to graze on the lawn right in front of the hotel. Fabulous! The place is historic and feels old and dated in many ways. The rooms are comfortable but simple and basic, with beds and a sink. No TV (none of the park lodges have TV in the rooms). Our room didn't have a bathroom; there were shared bathrooms and showers down the hall. No air conditioning, just fans. The lobby has a fireplace and lots of tables and armchairs, where we played cards. There are also tables and chairs on the front patio, which is a good place to sit with a book and watch for elk. What a wonderful and storied place, with magnificent surroundings. We'd go back in a heartbeat.
