When the Aspen temperatures soar, locals -- kids especially -- flock to the popular Mill Street Fountain. The perfect place to cool down in the summer sun, the Mill Street Fountain is a fantastic free attraction that little ones will love. Situated in the heart of downtown near the Hyman Street Mall, this simple, street-level fountain has been a mainstay on the Aspen summer scene since 1979 and is still kicking. Amazingly, the 12 jets of cool, refreshing mountain water were designed to shoot out in random patterns that won’t repeat for 1,000 years! Which, of course, means no one knows which jet will burst forth next. Parents can splish and splash with their delighted kiddos or simply relax on benches and tables nearby. When the family gets hungry, the beloved Popcorn Wagon is only steps away. Balls and water toys are welcome.
