After experiencing the hustle and bustle of the city, come back to nature with a visit to Minnehaha Park. As the oldest and most visited park in Minneapolis, Minnehaha has gained quite the reputation. Certainly its famed 53-foot waterfall is impressive, and it is the happy home of elm, silver maple, basswood, hackberry and cottonwood trees. Outdoorsy families are sure to enjoy walking through the scenic landscape of Minnehaha Park, photographing limestone bluffs and the views from scenic overlooks as they explore.
Tips for Families
Summer is an especially popular time to visit the parks. Concerts are often offered during this season, and the weather is perfect for picnics.

Perfect way to spend a pretty dayFlag review
I've been to Minnehaha Park several times. Usually my kids bring their Razors (scooters) to ride along the bike/walking paths. Out of town visitors can rent bikes and surreys from Wheel Fun Rentals. You can view the waterfall from the above bridge or below, just be prepared for many steps leading to from the waterfall base. On hot days follow the creek down to a beach-like area where families can relax as the kids play in the water. Don't forget a towel. As for snacks or lunch the Sea Salt Eatery is always hopping. I've never eaten there (apparently they serve good seafood as well as a beer/wine) but we have had their ice cream. The kids always beg to stop by when we visit. Overall, this is a great place for families.
Tips for Families
1. Bring quarters for parking meters. 2. If you can, visit on a weekday when the park is a little quieter. 3. Don't forget the camera, as the waterfall makes for a great backdrop for pictures. 4. If you are staying near the Mall of America and don’t have a rental car take the light rail from MOA.
Suggestions for nearby family-friendly accommodations
