Gorgeous hotel right in the middle of it allFlag review
This hotel is situated amid the hustle and bustle of Waikiki Beach, the most crowded beach in Hawaii. This has its pros and cons for families--surfing lessons were just a few steps from the hotel, and you can rent boogie boards, buy swim diapers, eat out at a different restaurant for every meal, right there. On the other hand, it's not exactly a relaxed-pace getaway--though there are a lot of other places in Hawaii that are. About the hotel itself: The pool wasn't anything special, but with the beach right there, most kids probably won't care. The staff went out of their way to be helpful, and the concierge was a fountain of knowledge about the island. We stayed in the original hotel, which had a vintage charm about it, though the rooms are smaller than what many American tourists may be used to, and don't give you a lot of room for a crib. The courtyard in the evening is dreamy--Hawaiian music and Hawaiian cocktails...just arrange for a babysitter and all you have to do is walk downstairs for a romantic evening out.
Tips for Families
Stay here if you want to experience the full-on tourist HQ of Hawaii, but make sure to rent a car to drive around the rest of the island too--there are some beautiful areas outside of Waikiki that you won't want to miss.
