Description

The mission of the Monterey Bay Aquarium is to inspire conservation of the world's oceans. Through brilliant exhibits and an amazing display of aquatic life, the Monterey Aquarium certainly inspires. For more than twenty years this Aquarium has been enchanting the young and the old alike. Examples of their exhibits include The Jellies Experience, which shows off the great variety of jellyfish that elegantly float through the deep ocean. The stars of this exhibit are Moon Jellies, Flower Hat Jellies and Cross Jellies. Other animals on view include sharks, octopuses, penguins and turtles. Special guided tours are also offered as well as fish feeding frenzies.

Tips for Families

A special family tour is offered which takes visitors behind the scenes with trained naturalists. Hands on activates are included making it a great choice for families with children under eight.

Plan to spend the entire day at the aquarium. Nice cafe and something for all ages.

Rainy day fun

Tips for Families

Bring a stroller and snacks. It's a lot of fun and there is a great place for kids, but some of the areas are geared more for those who can read and have an interest for sea life. Also, there isn't any "close" parking, so a stroller is a must for those with really little kids.

Tips for Families

Try to avoid peak times, like the day after Christmas. It was VERY crowded.
