Mote Marine Aquarium is a true encounter with the complexity of sea life. Displayed are many exhibits, featuring all kinds of aquatic wonders. One such exhibit is the ''Mollusk Hall'' which holds a 27 ft. long preserved giant squid. Mote Marine Aquarium is the only place in the US where this particular species is on display. Visitors can also watch many species of sharks swim at the ''Shark Habitat,'' Mote's 135,000 gallon shark tank. Sharks are a specialty of the Mote as the aquarium is the only congressionally designated center for shark research in the nation. In addition the aquarium is home to two manatees, Hugh and Buffet, who would love a visit. They are considered to be the world's most highly trained manatees. Finally, kids will enjoy the ray touch pool, where they are given a rare opportunity to feel a stingray's velvety exterior without worries of getting stung. Considered a leader in marine research since its founding, Mote Marine Aquarium is a one of a kind adventure with the sea.
