Pricey to get in. A few fun things to see.

For the shows: Get there early to get good seats and to see the whole thing as it is only 15 minutes long, and you will miss a lot if you miss 5 minutes.

- Check the Mystic Seaport for special events and activities going on, which might make the experience more exciting for older kids. - If you're definitely doing the Seaport and Aquarium, buy the discount pass that includes both, as well as some freebies.

We have gone during all the seasons, but really love it during the winter. Less people and more active whales, etc. This is just a great spot. Also hope they still offer this feature. You pay for a day and you can come in the next day. So awesome with kids, there is more to see than mine have an attention span for. It is perfect to drive in the first day of our stay and get 2-3 hours in and then we come back in the am to spend more time revisiting our fav's and viewing everything. It also gives us time to research and answer questions that come up. Not to mention we love driving the coastline in the late afternoon/early evening and finding the perfect little seafood spot to eat in. We have found some great spots in local towns!

Mystic Aquarium - a great weekend trip in the Northeast

The aquarium is amazing. Love everything about it, especially the whales and the touch tank. We have been to lots of aquariums and this ranks up there with our favorite Vancouver and Atlanta aquariums, but on a smaller scale. Your ticket allowed you to go one day and then get stamped to come back the next day. Great for kids, you go for a few hours upon arrival and then back in the am. PERFECT! We had fun having dinner at Mystic Pizza, bringing my husband and I back to the 80's! We also loved driving the coast and trying new seafood spots along the way. A very cute town along the CT shoreline. We have taken this trip three times now and our kids never seem to tire of it.

Go early so you can enough time to spend on each shop and building and ship. Expect some walking.
