Tiny Aquarium, Soon to Close

Flag review

Tips for Families

This aquarium will close on September 30, 2013, and relocating its marine life and many of its staff members to the other National Aquarium in Baltimore. Get there while you still can! I haven't been to the Baltimore location yet, but if you're headed from DC to the Northeast, the Adventure Aquarium in Camden, NJ is excellent and well worth a visit.

So, we were expecting a small aquarium. But to be honest, I thought it would be a LITTLE bit bigger. But for what it is, its not bad - and what it was to us yesterday was taking a 2 year old to see fishies. And she was happy. It w...

This is by far, the worst attraction in DC. Your kids will have more fun staring at the lobster tank at the super market....

I can understand all of the one star reviews, I really can.  However we took our daughter here and she loved it - spent just over an hour and it was a nice way to round out of day of museums.  It is small, they do charge and it doesn't compare to the aquarium in Baltimore but I did...

A lot of these critical reviews still seem to indicate that you can take kids there for an hour or two.  I looked at everything thoroughly and I got through it in about 35 minutes.  And kids' atte...

A complete waste of time.  If it was free, like all the OTHER museums in this town, I would give it a 3 at most.  But at $10/person, skip this! I guess for someone living in DC with children it is a nice escape for an hour or two - not sure if kids can always handle a 45 minute drive to Baltimore (the closest QUALITY aquarium). For a generic adult, though, avoid this place like the plague.  It is in the basement of a government building, meaning there is limited space.  There are probably 30 little individual displays, at most.  The "highlight" of the visit is watching them feed the piranhas - *yawn*.  Their largest display is a decent-sized alligator - one of the more boring animals to feature.  How about f...
